Anna Donahue is a New York City Designer. Her work shows an affinity for design that has been present throughout her life. Her unique pieces reflect an attraction to nature’s organic shapes and textures.
A soft palate of precious, semiprecious stones and pearls complement each 18 karat gold piece. The final works are inherently feminine in all her designs both delicate and bold.
Much of her inspiration comes from the aquatic life forms she encounters as an underwater photographer. The fluid lines and movement in her pieces are reminiscent of the seascapes she photographs during her dives. Many of the textures present in Anna’s work also derive from different species of coral.
Throughout Anna’s early years, the study of sculpture, oil painting, pastel and photography shaped her inevitable love of jewelry design.
Anna has continued to pursue design in one way or another throughout her adult life. She studied at Parsons School of Design, while working at Marcel Breuer Architects. Later, she became the Studio Manager for the late fashion photographer, Bill King. She also spent several years in advertising, including serving as the Director of Advertising for Calvin Klein Cosmetics.
Anna left the business world to raise her children. When she and her family moved to Brooklyn, she focused her creativity and artistic talent on jewelry design.
She studied goldsmithing at the renowned Jewelry Arts Institute in New York City, and went on to learn the art of wax carving from Tova Botwinick, a former lead designer for Barry Keiselstein-Cord. Anna also studies with Dutch-born wax model maker, Fred de Vos.
After several years of learning from acclaimed jewelry designer Bianca Lopez, Anna joined the Bianca Lopez Studio of Jewelry Art and Design where she continues to develop as an artist and designer.
